A Blessing from the USA

We’ve been in the Philippines for about six months now and after two plus years of deputation we’re happy to be right where the Lord wants us.  At the same time it has been a blessing to hear from friends and family back in America.  We have received several emails and even some letters from our church family and friends.  And now we have received another blessing! Two more churches have decided to partner with our ministry through their finances and prayers!  Thank you New Beginnings Baptist Church in Kennedy, NY and Grace Baptist Church in Beaver Dams, NY!  What a blessing to see the Lord continue to provide for us in Cebu! And what an encouragement to know there are folks still thinking and praying for us across the miles.

Elizabeth’s Grandpa Horn with our Abigail

We would like to thank everyone for their prayers for Grandpa Horn.  After battling his emphysema for twenty-six years he finally went home to heaven on the eighteenth of this month.  It’s never easy to say goodbye to our loved ones and Grandpa has already been greatly missed.  The Lord let Elizabeth and I spend Grandpa’s last days with him in the hospital, reading scripture and singing hymns.  What a testimony for grandpa to have all his children and grandchildren gathered around singing and quoting the Bible.  We thank the Lord for those precious moments and now we have one more reason to look forward to heaven.  “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15

On Decemer 27th we were in Fredonia, New York with Pastor Burke and Victory Baptist Church for Sunday School.  The children had been taking a special offering for us for seven weeks prior to this date and presented us with this gift. Though our time was short we enjoyed being with these young ones.  It’s exciting to think of what they will some day do for for the Lord if they follow Him.

Elizabeth and I had been married a grand total of eight days…We enjoyed our honeymoon immensely and started to look forward to beginning our lives together back home.  The Sunday before we returned we attended  Bible Baptist Church in Niagara Falls, Canada with Pastor Kiper.  We planned to go incognito, unnanounced, and just enjoy the services.  However, we had barely been in the church five minutes when Pastor Kiper recognized me and asked if I would present the work that night.  It was completely unexpected but what a blessing!  So, after only being married eight days Elizabeth and I had our first meeting together as husband and wife.
