9 Years & Counting

So this post is waaaay late BUT we celebrated our 9th anniversary on November 28!  A lot has changed in that time. I’m a bit bigger than I was 9 years ago and Elizabeth…well she’s even more beautiful than before. :) But seriously, something very important has changed.  Through time our relationship has grown. It is wonderful to love someone completely for who they are, all their strengths and flaws. And it is wonderful to have them love you the same way!  What a beautiful picture of God’s love for us: unconditional, complete, and all-encompassing.  I think God also intended marriage to make us better Christians. There’s nothing like living with a completely different person to show you your own selfishness and pride.  Yes, a lot has changed in 9 years and I am thankful for it!  Except for the extra pounds…that needs to go. :)

Prayers for Brother Peter

I was happy to visit one of our college students, Peter, this month! His heart’s desire is to pastor a church one day on the island of Bohol.  For now, he is praying for God’s direction and interning under another pastor in that area. After seeing him in Bohol, I am so blessed by his spirit. Life in the ministry is not easy, but he is facing these challenges with a smile. Please pray for him! Pray that he would continue to grow and learn and not become discouraged. Pray that the Lord would direct him and use him to reach the lost in Bohol!

Pastor’s Conference 2018

We were blessed to host a Pastor’s Conference this month! A Canadian and a Filipino pastor partnered together to give us 186 boxes full of Bibles, tracts, and reading materials to distribute to local pastors here in Cebu. It was such a joy to see these faithful preachers receive their Bibles and tracts! One thing that is lacking here in the Philippines is good quality reading materials and tracts so these gifts were a special blessing!  After a day full of preaching and fellowship I can certainly say, it was good to be at the Lord’s house!  Our hearts are full, we are so thankful for these materials and the people who supplied them!

Our friends from Malaspacua Island have been a blessing! After Typhoon Haiyan, God brought our churches together and developed a friendship. Since that time, we have enjoyed teaching some of their members at Bible College. These ladies have applied themselves to learning; from teaching children’s classes to playing the piano!  Now, we are happy to send them back to their home church so (hopefully :) ) they can be a blessing to their pastor!  We pray that they continue to be teachable and allow God to work in their lives!
