Summer Camp 2011!

I was able to be a counselor at two weeks of camp this summer!  What a blessing to return to this special place.  Unfortunately, Elizabeth couldn’t be a counselor this year because of little Abbie but she did manage to visit for a couple of days.  The theme this year was Knights of Christianity which provided many cool games.  Also, the camp staff performed a skit entitled ‘Stay in the Castle’, encouraging young people to stay close to the Lord and let Him provide their future spouse.  It was exciting to see many of the teens decide to stay pure!  This concept is becoming so foreign in our world today.  Even nine and ten year olds are being pressured to be in relationships now! Praise the Lord for those decisions made at camp!  I’m so glad to have been a part of it.  Lord willing, we will be in the Philippines by March and we’ll miss camp next year.  My wife and I will miss participating in this awesome ministry!  However, it will not be the last time that we attend.  Lord willing, our children will be able to go in the future and be changed as well.

We went with the young ones from our church to summer camp this week! Many of these children come from rough backgrounds and have great obstacles to overcome in their lives.  It’s heartbreaking to see what these eight year olds face everyday at home and school.  This week we also had a family of muslims come with us.  Praise the Lord, during the week a few were saved! Please keep them in your prayers, their parents are not strict muslims, but still the children who accepted Christ were afraid to go home and tell their parents they had become Christians.  One of the sisters would not accept Christ for that reason.  Again, please pray for these kids!  Those who were not saved have had seeds planted in their heart. May the Lord cotinue to draw them to Himself.

After Christmas we headed off to camp with our church teens.  What an awesome three days!  We braved the cold and the activities to try to make an impact on these young lives.  There was one particular young man, Anthony, we had been praying for to get saved.  He had just started coming to our church and up to that point had never heard the gospel.  This is sadly becoming the case for more and more teens in our country.  Anthony was a foster child with a very rough background but praise the Lord, he received Christ as his personal Savior on the very last night of camp.  Since that time he has changed drastically and faithfully attends our church.  He’s been a great encouragement to us.  Please continue to pray for him as he still has many obstacles to overcome.
