School is over and we’ve entered the season of graduations! Every student with passing grades is celebrated in a moving up ceremony. This is a great opportunity for us to meet the families of our teenagers. We also witnessed the graduation of the senior class we taught this year in the public school. We were so thankful for the opportunity to share Christ and His Word with them! As for next year, God has already answered our prayers!  The principal asked if we could teach more classes this coming school year!

Divine Appointments!

I love it when unique things happen and it’s clear that God just did something that only He can do!  I was running errands around Cebu City one day and happened to meet the Mayor of Ubay. Ubay is a city on Bohol Island where, the Suico family, one of our own missionaries live.  In fact, my family and I have been assisting them as they remodel their church and reach out to the community.   I had a great talk with the Mayor and so the next time I was in Ubay, Pastor Rackson and I, visited him.   Because the Mayor remembered our earlier meeting, we had no problem making an appointment. Pastor Rackson invited him to join their special services and we were able to plant seeds of the Gospel!  I am grateful for this divine appointment and for the Lord’s work in our lives!  Please pray that this man will be saved!

Times of Encouragement!

Elizabeth’s brother came to visit us for a couple of weeks! It was so good to see him again. The kids enjoyed playing ball in the park and reading with  Uncle Daniel. It’s moments like these they’ll treasure forever!

On his previous visits, Bro. Daniel spent a lot of time with Pastor Walter and his family so it was our privilege to visit them again on Bantayan Island!  So much has happened since the last time Daniel was with us. The Langbids have started a ministry on Bantayan Island and it is blooming! Several local families came together and built a building for them to meet in. The area seems so remote but the government is making plans to relocate several families right behind the church property. God is bringing people to His church!  We plan to return to Bantayan this summer and help the Langbids with several outreach ministries!

We are so thankful for our time with Daniel and the Langbid family. They both were such a tremendous encouragement to our hearts!

One of our prayers for the ministry last year was that the Lord would add three families to the church. Over the course of the year, we watched God do that!   One couple, in particular, encouraged our hearts. They had been devout Catholics all their lives, but a Baptist friend witnessed to them and invited them to their church.  When they moved to our area they started googling Baptist churches and decided to visit our church.
After about a month, they were gloriously saved and baptized! Pastor Elbern has been having Bible studies with them weekly. During one such Bible study, they asked Pastor Elbern about idols. On their own, they brought their Catholic saint to him and said they didn’t want it in their home any more. They broke it right then and there. It’s been amazing to watch God work in their lives!  The wife is a CPS worker and has organized an event for us to speak at. So we have this unique opportunity to share Christ with possibly 200 plus mothers!  God is so good!  He is still drawing men and women to Himself, we just want to praise Him for all He is doing!God has grown our faith and this year we are praying for five new families!  :)
