We were asked to join Pastor Ferguson and Bible Baptist Temple for their Sunday evening service.  As it turns out Campbell, Ohio has some interesting history.  The gentleman who wrote the Old Rugged Cross lived there when he penned that beloved hymn.  I thought that was pretty neat!  The service went really well. As I was preaching I started to tell several jokes about Elizabeth and we lost electricity!  It would come back on and I would proceed to tell another joke, only to lose the lights again.  I laughed, “Well, I guess I better stop lying about my wife!”  Pastor Ferguson and his family had actually met Elizabeth when she was just seven years old.  It’s amazing to see where God has taken our lives.  He alone gets the glory!

Our next meeting took place at our supporting church in Beallsville, Ohio.  Pastor Cox and his family have been our friends for years but this was the first time that we were able to go back to the church as a family. It was a blessing to see how the church has grown since I was there last!  A lot of young families have started to attend and are now being discipled.  The Lord has also recently blessed Pastor Cox and his family with a new home which they often use for fellowshipping with the church.  We did this while we were with them and really enjoyed it.  What a blessing to see God’s people caring for each other and having fun.

Another Week of Camp

As the summer slowed down we were asked to be a part of another week of camp.  Our friend, Brother Tom Geer, does a lot with children and teen ministries and invited us to join him in the mountains of Pennsylvania.  After working with him many times I knew I would enjoy helping him again.  The camp was beautiful!  The grounds featured an awesome zipline that flew over a beautiful lake and an outdoor amphitheater.  During the week I was a counselor for a great group of junior campers.  I was able to lead one of the young men in my cabin to the Lord!   What a blessing to give the gospel to a hungry soul!  Several other young people also trusted the Lord as their Savior throughout the week.  All the efforts put into a week of camp are so worth it when a soul comes to Christ! I’m glad that Elizabeth and I were able to be a part of this ministry.
