“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord…” Ps. 127:3  What a blessing to be the parents of a precious child!  It has been a joy for us to watch Abigail grow from a tiny infant to a very active baby.  These days she keeps us very busy as she explores her expanding world.  It ‘s amazing to think just how quickly this past year went by.  Lititle Abbie now walks and practically runs.  It’s also fun to hear her talk, grunt, and coo.  Yes, this year has been a year of many firsts for Abigail and for us.  There have been times when being parents has been challenging…especially when Abbie first discovered she could voice her own opinion. :)  However, we have also enjoyed the rewards and pray the Lord gives us wisdom as we raise and train our baby girl.  We thank the Lord for this wonderful gift.  It’s only been a year but we wouldn’t know what to do without our little girl now.  Abigail truly has been a blessing!

Ever since Elizabeth and I began praying for a child we knew that our baby was a gift and that she truly belonged to God.  Our Abbie is in God’s hands and couldn’t be in better care! On February 5th,  we publicly dedicated Abigail to God and gave her back to Him.  We don’t know what God’s plan is for Abigail but we trust Him to guide and use her life.  It’s our job, as the parents, to raise her to the best of our ability and let God take control of her life.  Maybe someday God will use her on a mission field away from us or call her back to the States!  Whatever His will, we have to obey God and let Him guide our daughter.  Children certainly are a blessing and we’re so happy that the Lord gave us our special bundle.  It’s our prayer that Abigail will get saved early in life and love the Lord all her years!  “For this child I have prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD…” I Samuel 1:27-28

In the Pentagon

We finally made it to Washington D.C. to apply for Abigail’s Filipino passport!  We arranged for our stay to last a couple of days just in case the paperwork took longer than we anticipated.  Praise the Lord, we completed everything in 45 minutes and had an extra day to enjoy Washington!  The Consulate was so accommodating and made the process easy!  The most difficult part was getting Abbie’s picture taken.  Our squirmy worm doesn’t like to sit still for long but we managed to take the photo.  Now, Abigail’s paperwork is all set and she’s ready to leave for Cebu!  Thanks for the prayers!

Our little family has finally become a trio! Abigail Elisabeth Baran came to us on Wednesday afternoon, June 8th, 2011. She was just one day past her due date, weighing in at a healthy 7 lbs. 11 oz.  There is absolutely nothing that can prepare you for receiving such a precious gift.  Elizabeth and I are so excited to finally have our Abbie with us!  We praise the Lord for giving us this beautiful baby girl. Thank you all so much for your well wishes and prayers! Both Abbie and Elizabeth are doing great!  We’ll try to put pictures on the blog soon!
