Hopevale Ministry
• What is Hopevale?
Hopevale is a home and school for troubled youth. It is located in Hamburg, New York. For many years this was a girls-only school. This year they have opened their doors to troubled young men as well. We have been given an opportunity to go into this school and minister to both the young ladies and the young men on a weekly basis.
• How Do We Minister?
Every Monday night (except holidays) at 6:00, a team of ladies from our church hosts a one-hour Bible study for any of the girls who want to come. Now that there are teen men living at this home, we also have a Bible study for them on Monday nights.
• What Happens In These Bible Studies?
Because many of these young people learn at a lower level, we try to keep these Bible studies lively and interesting. Contests, song times, prayer times, Sword drills, object lessons, Bible lessons with visual aids, and many other methods are used to keep the attention of these young people while also teaching them Bible truths.
• How Many Young People Come?
The teen ladies’ Bible study usually has between 10-14 in attendance (out of the 100 who live on the campus)
The teen men’s Bible study has been having 5-6 in attendance (out of the 14 who live on campus).
• How Can I Help?
This ministry is in need of much prayer. Some of these teenagers come from extremely troubled backgrounds. One teacher at this school said they consider it a success if these teens live to the age of 25. Please pray for them!
