12. One Bad Egg

We picked up a lot of eggs on the farm. After they were picked up, we took them inside to wash them, weigh them (Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small), test them by light to make sure they were okay, and put them into cartons. They were sorted white eggs and brown eggs.

Once in a while we would come across a “bad egg.” I hope you will never experience this in your life. The smell is so foul it is revolting. Unfortunately you usually find out too late that the egg is bad – after you break it! Then it gets on your hand and the smell does not come off. It i’s sickening.

Sometimes a person is described as a “bad egg.” Once in awhile you come across a “bad egg” in a church. The Bible says, “...one sinner destroyeth much good.” (Ecclesiastes 9:18).

There are times when church members are so self-centered, they do not care about the consequences of their behavior, even if it gives the church a bad name. They can stink up the whole thing for awhile. What a shame that such hard-working Christian servants can have their works or church reputation destroyed by one hypocrite!

Do not be a selfish hypocrite.

Folks, keep you eyes off the hypocrisy in your church. It i’s in every church. Keep your eyes on the Lord.
