The Saving Journey
Oh, blessed birth at Bethlehem Fulfilling prophecy— For there began His earthly walk To a place called Calvary.
Shepherds’ hearts were thrilled with joy— Their Savior they would see— The one Who’d someday shed His blood At a place called Calvary.
And others, too, had sought a sign And travelled far to see The child Who as a man would come To a place called Calvary.
Along the way He opened ears And made blind eyes to see— And all the while He knew He’d reach A place called Calvary.
He made of some disciples On the shores of Galilee— Most would love, and yet desert Him At a place called Calvary.
He knelt and prayed in anguish In dark Gethsemene— But He’d not flee the horror Of the place called Calvary.
Then beaten, scorned, and spat upon He stumbled painfully Just “like a lamb to slaughter,” To a place called Calvary.
Then He arose in Glory, Proclaiming liberty To those who’d take the gift He gave At a place called Calvary.
Oh, blessed birth at Bethlehem Of Christ Who set us free, Whose torment turned to triumph At a place called Calvary.
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him....” (Luke 23:33)

Oh, blessed birth at Bethlehem
Fulfilling prophecy—
For there began His earthly walk
To a place called Calvary.
Shepherds’ hearts were thrilled with joy—
Their Savior they would see—
The one Who’d someday shed His blood
At a place called Calvary.
And others, too, had sought a sign
And travelled far to see
The child Who as a man would come
To a place called Calvary.
Along the way He opened ears
And made blind eyes to see—
And all the while He knew He’d reach
A place called Calvary.
He made of some disciples
On the shores of Galilee—
Most would love, and yet desert Him
At a place called Calvary.
