Both male and female were made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Both men and women are an association of three persons, a triumvirate – body, soul and spirit.
But when it comes to the glory (reflection) of God – that is the man! “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” (1 Corinthians 11:7).
Notice the difference. Men are to reflect God’s image to the world. We are to exhibit to the world what God is. We have the awesome task of setting an example to all women and children what God is like.
God is masculine not feminine. It does not surprise me that in these days of confusion there are companies producing “gender-neutral” Bibles and Hymnals. Avoid them! Believe the scripture above. There is a difference between the sexes. Men are the glory of God, the women is the glory of the man.
“For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.” (1 Corinthians 11:8-9).
What rage some feminists would fly into if they read these verses. However, God does not change to satisfy human emotions or to keep up with the times. God made women to help men (Genesis 2:18,20), and God made man to show all women and children what He is like.
Women have an instinctive desire for a man (see Genesis 3:16). Sometimes you’ll see girls as young as 6,7, or 8 years old have make-believe weddings. By the time they are 12 or 13 they are full-blown boy crazy. Boys are just thinking about bikes, sports, cars, math, science, etc.
Later they take notice of girls, but that is usually due to hormones. Most boys do not grow up wanting to get married in the worse way. They do not spend years dreaming of their wedding! Girls often do.
Also instinctively, fathers are the heroes of boys and girls. Men are the not only the glory of God and the desire of women, but also the glory of children. “[T]he glory of children are their fathers.” (Proverbs 17:6b). Nature teaches boys and girls to regard their fathers as heroes. Who put that “instinct” in them? God! Why? Because man is supposed to reflect the image and glory of God to the world.
Men – what an awesome responsibility you have! You are to reflect the Person of God to the women and children of the world. They are looking at you. Do not disappoint. Be a God-like man – God is not feminine.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
