If a poisonous snake got into your house, imperiling your wife and children, would you try to manage it or get rid of it? How about a rabid raccoon? A demented dog?
Anger has killed, abused or threatened more people than all the snakes, dogs, and rabid animals in the world combined. Yet we coddle the angry and put down the dog.
“Anger management” is the latest “rage” of the psychobabble world. Angry people are told that they will never overcome their anger but can bring it under control.
The problem is that wrath, like a shotgun, only has to go off once to hurt someone. Many wives live in terror of their “good husbands” who just have a little “anger problem.”
Never try to manage your anger problem – get rid of it!
“But,” you ask, “how?”
The answer is – power! Inner-power. Not your own, but from God. Just like a car must have a power source (the battery) in order to function as its designer intended, so you must have power from within to draw from so you can function as your Creator designed.
The power is the Holy Spirit. Consider this verse of Scripture: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:” (Acts 1:8a)
The Holy Spirit is a person (see John 16:13). He is God (see 2 Corinthians 3:17). It is not possible for Almighty God to dwell in a person and that person remain the same. If He is allowed to control a person that person will be different!
I’m so glad my fits of rage, anger, and slamming fists into walls are gone. Violent thoughts have been erased. Deliverance has been complete!
The Bible says, “The fruit [product] of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance [self-control] ....”
Do you have God in your life? Don’t confuse God with religion, church, prayers, rituals, etc. Many religions are void of God. Have you received Christ as your Saviour?
Colossians 2:6 says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:”
Let’s get serious for a moment: Our sins have offended a Holy God and separated us from Him. Jesus, the Son of God, left Heaven and took upon His body our sins and our judgment from God when He died a violent death on the cross. He shed his blood to wash away our sins. He was then buried and rose from the grave.
If you will believe that He is Lord and trust Him alone to save you from your sins, His Holy Spirit will come into your life and give you power to live right (see John 3:16; Romans 10:13; 1 Corinthians 6:19).
Are you tired of being powerless? Sick of yourself? Why not pray right now and ask Jesus Christ to come into your life, save you from your sins’ penalty, and give you His power?
He can enable you to keep His commandments, such as: “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:31)
