I must have grown up on the farm before the days of power steering. Either that or we could not afford power steering. For you younger readers, there was a day when they had “manual steering.” Sometimes it was called “Armstrong steering,” because you had better have had strong arms if you wanted to change direction.
The secret was motion. The vehicle had to be in motion in order to steer it easier. If you tried to turn the wheel while standing still – forget it!
Thus we have the proverb “it is easier to steer something in motion than something standing still.” The same is true spiritually. God directs those that are in motion. He does not direct pew-sitters. Get involved in ministries at the church. Even if you get into the wrong ministry at first, at least you will be in motion, and God can direct you where He wants you to go.
When Paul went to Macedonia, he saw a vision of a man saying, “Come over and help us.” When he got there, he met a bunch of women and led them to Christ. His vision was not exactly what happened, but at least he got in motion.
There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened! Which are you? Get in motion with God and make things happen!
