God Still Answers Prayer

This year, we saw God do another miracle! Poppa Timario accepted the Lord as his personal Savior! We prayed for his salvation for eight long years, after meeting his family on our very first church route. Over the years, his wife and several children were saved and it was always their prayer that Poppa would find Christ too. In October,  he came back to church with his wife, and during the service, he said he felt a great conviction to be saved.  He had heard the gospel many times before, but on that day, he realized he truly needed Christ! Then, last Sunday, our hearts rejoiced again as Poppa Timario was baptized. What a tremendous blessing to see God work in this family!  Have the years passed as you prayed for someone’s soul? Keep praying! God still answers prayer and He still saves the lost!

We have some more good news this week! Cebu City is set to allow jeepneys back on the road! Only 1,720 out of the 5,044 will be given the green light to return but this is huge news for us.  Most people don’t own a private vehicle and rely heavily on public transport to commute to work, school, and church! Up to this point, church attendance has been difficult for many due to the long lines and limited transport. Please pray that more travel restrictions would be lifted soon. We’re still waiting for them to open up travel outside the island so we can minister in Bohol again.

How quickly the world has changed!
The Philippines is currently under quarentine. In Cebu, this means only one person per household is allowed to leave the house for essentials i.e grocieries, medincine, etc. Work has stopped except for the few jobs that are deemed essential. In the Philippines, no paycheck can be just as scary as the coronavirus. Many Filipinos live day by day and losing their income becomes an immediate crisis. Our church has come together to help several families who need help through these dark days. No one knows how long this ordeal will last but I pray that Christians will be mindful of their neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family. Remember our Lord’s words, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” May God use this time to strengthen the brethren and to reach out to a world that’s looking for hope!

Our youth workers, Ralph and Jean had a baby boy! This family has invested and loved on the teens for so many years. After church on Sunday the teens piled into the “truck” and we visited Jean and Ralph in the hospital. The saying goes, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Ralph and Jean have shown God’s love to our young people and it was a blessing to see the teens respond and exhibit their own love for their leaders. We thank the Lord for this couple and their healthy newborn baby!
